The short answer
Wellfound positions itself as a startup and tech job marketplace with candidate profiles, applications and ways for founders and recruiters to discover candidates. Opened is a personal shortlist for software-engineering jobs: readers review extracted resume facts, choose search preferences and see why each saved role fits or is held back. The products overlap in job discovery but are not the same workflow.
Where Wellfound fits
Wellfound’s job-seeker pages describe startup and technology openings, candidate profiles, one-click applications, salary/equity details on listings, and founder or recruiter discovery. Those are marketplace and profile-network capabilities.
Where Opened fits
Opened asks readers to review the facts parsed from their resume and set roles and locations. The shortlist explains apply/skip decisions and links to company application pages. It does not publish a candidate profile, make applications on a reader’s behalf, or promise recruiter discovery. Free emails arrive every Sunday and paid emails every day, including a useful search update when no new roles match.
Which should you try?
- Choose Wellfound if you want to browse a startup marketplace, use its candidate profile and application flow, or be discoverable to founders and recruiters.
- Try Opened if you want a smaller engineering shortlist with a reason to apply or skip and a direct company link.
- Check compensation, location, visa and role requirements on the employer’s source before applying; neither product can guarantee those terms remain current.
Pricing and limits
After profile completion, Opened provides seven calendar days of daily reviews, then free Sunday emails. Paid subscriptions continue daily delivery at ₹199 per month or ₹499 every three months, renewing until canceled. There is no card or automatic charge for the free period. Emails include a search update and useful reading when no new roles match. Wellfound’s current candidate pricing and features should be checked on its own site; this guide does not assume a permanent price or feature set.
