Privacy policy

Opened uses your information to prepare a relevant job shortlist, deliver your editions, and provide the account features you choose. This page explains what that involves.
What you provide
We store your verified email and account identifier, resume text and corrections, employment and education details, selected roles and locations, sponsorship preference, edition history, feedback and any previously saved documents. We extract text from your uploaded PDF; we do not keep the original PDF.
How we use it
We compare your profile with job requirements, explain why roles were included or held back, send the editions you signed up for, and keep your saved shortlists available. Relevance feedback is recorded for review; it does not silently override eligibility requirements. We do not sell your resume or send applications or outreach on your behalf.
Providers and AI processing
Vercel hosts the service, Neon stores application data, Clerk handles sign-in, Resend delivers email, and Polar handles billing for paid plans. Resume extraction may send resume text to OpenAI to help read your profile facts. For scanned PDFs, we may send the PDF to OpenAI for text extraction. We do not retain the uploaded PDF; provider retention follows its own policies. Job interpretation processes job descriptions separately. These providers may process information in countries other than yours; the application database is configured in Singapore.
Your control over sharing
Your resume is private by default. Your edition URL is a bearer link: anyone you give that link to can read its job shortlist. Your saved candidate profile is private to your signed-in account. With active paid or tester access, you can separately review and publish selected facts, work examples and public links. The public page, Markdown and JSON are accessible to anyone, including search engines and AI tools. You can unpublish at any time, and the page goes offline when paid access ends. External copies cannot be recalled.
Public profile activity
Public profiles collect first-party, cookie-free browser signals for page visits, work/contact-link opens and Markdown/JSON link opens. Owners see aggregate daily counts and coarse source categories, not visitor identities. Signals are not unique people or proof of recruiter interest. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control and exclude recognized automated traffic and signed-in owners where detectable. Raw IPs, link destinations and full referring URLs are not stored in this report. Daily totals are kept for 90 days and hashed retry receipts for seven days. IP-based rate limiting is separate from the report.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information while providing your service. Preferences lets you remove saved resume text and tailored copies, or delete your Opened account and its editions, feedback and other account data. Account deletion also requests cancellation and anonymization with the payment processor and removal of the sign-in identity. Providers may retain anonymized transactions, security records and backups under their own retention policies.
Email, cookies and service records
Sign-in uses cookies needed to authenticate your account. Optional Google Analytics is loaded only if you allow it. It records page visits, campaign attribution and a small set of product actions across the marketing site and app. We do not send resume contents, email addresses, role names, company names, job descriptions, search text, or private-link tokens to Google Analytics. You can change your choice below. We keep delivery and error records to operate the service and investigate failures. Every edition has an unsubscribe link. Separate promotional campaigns require a separate opt-in; unsubscribing from editions does not delete your account.
Questions and requests
You can review and correct your profile in Preferences. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. We may verify account ownership before acting on a request. We will update this page when our processing changes.
